About SCORE Lakes Region
SCORE Lakes Region Chapter #172 is enabled and fulfilled by a group of men and women volunteers dedicated to providing the best possible business advice to aspiring or current entrepreneurs. SCORE is there for the life or your business. To satisfy this SCORE mission, as of this writing, the 15 members belonging to the Lakes Region chapter have provided free and confidential business advice to over 1000 Lakes Region clients and conducted several dozen workshops since 2004.
SCORE Lakes Region’s immediate objective is to provide specialized service during the current economic difficulties. Our business counselors are diligently reviewing and collecting pertinent information useful to businesses suffering from lack of sales. SCORE Lakes Region’s on-going objectives are to continue to provide timely and quality business advice to Lakes Region entrepreneurs. We expect to continue to grow the number of new clients by 20% year after year. We have an ongoing initiative to seek new counselors with various industry experiences, opening satellite offices in Wolfeboro and Plymouth, increasing our outreach through the local media and business associations, and conducting several workshops related to current business topics and economic developments.
The SCORE Lakes Region Chapter is part of a national SCORE network of 360 chapters, with 13,000 volunteer members located in 800 chapter and branch offices across the USA. Our organization is dedicated to mentoring, counseling and tutoring aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners in the Lakes Region. We provide both face to face and online counseling on a no charge basis.
SCORE volunteers are real-world professionals with time-tested knowledge who donate thousands of hours to help small businesses succeed. Counselors are experts in such areas as accounting, finance, marketing, management and business plan preparation.
The Chapter is fortunate to have several community business resource partners: including the Belknap County Economic Development Council, Grafton County Economic Development Council , Wentworth Economic Development Corporation, Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce and Waterville Region Chamber of Commerce. The chapter also has an ongoing relationship with Laconia Savings Bank, Meredith Villiage Savings Bank, Northway Bank, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank and The Citizen of Laconia. These partnerships allow SCORE members to offer their individual knowledge, skills and experience while simultaneously having access to community development information, the latest academic business knowledge and staying abreast of financial lending practices and trends.
